“All the so-called “secrets of success” will not work unless you do.” ~Author Unknown
There has been much talk and writing about the power of attraction, and setting intentions. These are powerful concepts to be sure.
The definition of the Law of Attraction is attracting to your life whatever you give your attention, focus and energy to, whether wanted or unwanted. Our thoughts are like magnets, and will draw into our lives more of what we are thinking about, positive or negative.
The definition for intention is: “to have in mind a purpose or plan, to direct the mind, to aim.” Having no intention is like driving your car with no destination in mind. It is said that with intention, all the forces of the universe can align to make even the most impossible, possible.
Sometimes people read or watch DVDs on these topics and get very excited. They get to work focusing on what they want to draw into their lives. They think a lot about it, and even create very clear intentions. Then they wait, to see what is going to happen.
Much of the time what happens is more of what was already happening in their lives. They have not succeeded in manifesting their new reality. There are several reasons for this. The first is that it is not enough to just think the right thoughts, say the right words or write out the right statements. There has to be real change in beliefs. Often negative or limiting beliefs are buried at a subconscious level, and tend to cancel out our best efforts to change. Hypnosis and guided meditation can be helpful in shifting these blockages (see www.gwen.ca for CD titles).
A second reason desired change may not come is because there is not enough action being taken towards the goal. The universe does provide, but we do have to do our part. Concepts like attraction and intention are not magic wands, but rather more like compasses, making clear the direction in which we want to go.
A third reason for lack of progress may be giving up too soon. Change and manifestation can happen in an instant, but often it takes time. You have to hold firm in your beliefs, keep on working towards your goals and never give up. It is not about the universe handing you what you want on a silver platter. It is about using your energy to co-create with the universe.
