Nurtured by Nature

2037

nature loveThis past weekend I spent a day just working in my yard, pruning, weeding and tidying. I thought, for those of us who live in northern climates, what an exquisite experience spring and summer are for us.

Each time I look out at my trees and flowers, it is with a sense of awe. In the back of my mind, I can still see the frozen landscape of winter, and marvel at the green lushness that has taken its place. What is even more engaging, to my mind, is that every day, what I see is a little different from the day before. Everything is alive, moving through its own unique cycle of birth, maturity and death.

When we can eat things from our gardens that were, moments ago, a living part of the earth, we are in intimate communion with nature. As we watch the sun set each night, at a slightly different time than the night before, we are aware of our planet’s orbit and our ever-changing relationship to our sun.

What an incredible place, this Earth of ours. Its beauty is a form of abundance given to us all, in equal measure. How much we enjoy is up to us.
